Trinity Episcopal School is currently seeking applications for a full-time K-8 Physical Education teacher with 3 or more years coaching experience in tackle football and/or volleyball for the 2013-14 school year.  A physical education teacher at Trinity is willing to go over and above the call of duty and contribute to the program in any way necessary.  We work closely as a team and everyone is willing to do more than their share of the work for the greater purpose.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate and committed to promoting a healthy active lifestyle and working with youth in this capacity.  We are looking for a professional who is energetic, has a positive attitude, and who is a self-starter that has the confidence to take initiative.  The ability to work well with a cohesive team and be a positive contributing member of a strong community of professionals is a must. 

 

It is essential that you are creative, flexible, have strong organizational and classroom management skills and the ability to work with large groups.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary as you develop interpersonal relationships with faculty, parents and students. We are interested in someone who approaches their role with a sense of humor, enthusiasm, responsibility and professionalism.

 

Qualifications and duties include:

 
  • Support the School’s PE objectives and philosophy
  • Team teach with other PE staff for students in K-8 with a wide range of ability in a large class environment.
  • Create lesson plans and conduct classes that include movement exploration, motor skill development, fitness, cooperative sports and games, social emotional skill development, traditional athletics, and fun
  • § Coach a minimum of 2 athletic seasons (practice and games after school with possible weekend commitments at times)
  • Assess and maintain a written record of individual student development
  • Collaborate with Athletic Director and PE staff to plan and develop LS and MS PE curriculum that emphasizes physical fitness, movement, sports skills, and character education
  • Communicate, coordinate, and co-teach with other PE teachers to ensure program continuity
  • Communicate and collaborate with teachers and parents about behavior, participation, and skill of students
  • Be a positive role model for students exemplifying an active, healthy lifestyle
  • Seek professional development in the field
  • Support Athletic Director

 

 

Qualifications

BA and experience in working with kids in an athletic or PE environment

Coaching and teaching experience preferred

Computer skills are a plus (Word, Excel, I Movie)
