Our eighth grade class at Punahou School used the Book Creator app to author and publish ABC iBooks around the study of wind. As part of our grade level theme of "Empathy to Action," they took their understanding of wind and shared their electronic books with Punahou kindergarteners and first graders. The experience of interacting with the younger students provided a relevant expectation, as well as an authentic audience. One of the most valuable lessons that emerged from interacting with the ibooks was that learning and teaching is a two-way street. The eighth graders approached the task of sharing their knowledge as responsible teachers, and quickly realized how much they were also learning so much from their students.
