In the next couple of weeks the Independent Curriculum Group is offering a bunch of webinars that might be of interest to ISEDers:

ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP. Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 9) at 1:30pm ET I'll be reviewing some of the lessons and further questions that came out of our Academic Leadership Survey toward the end of last summer. This webinar is free for anyone--the registration link at GoToWebinar is here.

The HSSSE. On Thursday (February 11) at 3pm ET Jonathan Martin and Amada Torres of NAIS will be talking about the High School Survey of Student Engagement. If your school has used the HSSSE, is thinking about it, or has no idea what it's all about, this will be a good overview. There is also a Middle Grades Survey in the works, and the webinar will touch on this, as well. This one is free if you work in an ICG Partner School or Organization (list here) or $75 for those outside the consortium. Info and link to registration here.

INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS' COMPETITION. Next Thursday (February 18) at 3:30pm ET I'll be talking with Jonathan Martin about the SSATB Sizing Up the Competition report, on which Jonathan was lead author and researcher. It's a great read, and for anyone interested in digging deeper into the sometimes terrifying, sometimes mystifying world of "new" schools that are entering the marketplace, this should be a great an excellent learning experience. This one is also free if you work in an ICG Partner School or Organization (list here) or $75 for those outside the consortium. Info and link to registration here.

DEPARTMENT HEAD EFFECTIVENESS. And then on March 2 at 3pm, when everyone is rested up from NAISAC, Phyllis Gimbel, a professor of educational leadership and a former independent school teacher, department chair, and administrator, will address the "Department Head's Dilemma" in a webinar aptly titled "Responsibility without Authority." Also free if you work in an ICG Partner School or Organization (list here) or $75 for those outside the consortium. Info and link to registration here.

Many more to come--check the landing page of the ICG website for the complete list.

Right now, incidentally, the ICG Partnership cost for schools is $100 through June 30; this would pay for itself (and more) in just two webinars. Info here.

    Cheers--Peter Gow
